140 Characters 140 Days Week 11

Yikes, Christmas (and painting Christmas presents that I can’t post here yet) has been totally consuming my brain and occupying my free time. I briefly flirted with the notion of just giving up the character design challenge and calling 60+ days a good run, but the truth is that I need this practice badly. I’m in a place where my eye has developed a bit more than my hand, so I’m having a hard time feeling comfortable with anything I do. I am hoping that this means a real improvement in my art is not far behind if I keep at it. So I am just gonna pull up my bootstraps, pick up where I left off, and keep on keepin’ on. Tally ho!

Day 71-

Day 71

Day 73-img118

Day 74-img119

After Christmas I will begin the process of filling in the gaps where I missed days so that I can get back on track for the home stretch. I’d like to re-do this last one with the deer- I like his face and the concept for the sketch, but his position is much more static and stiff than a deer in his situation should be.

  1. I think the deer could be positioned a little differently, in the legs perhaps, but with his deer-in-the-headlights expression, I actually expect his body to be absolutely frozen; I think his stiffness helps sell the idea :)
