This is the week that I reduced down to a single character pose on several days. I am sorely ashamed!
Okay, not really. I haven’t been ignoring my studio but I have been busy! On Wednesday I went to the first SCBWI-WWA meeting of the 2013-2014 year (after the summer hiatus) and was privileged to hear agent Jill Grinberg speak on the elusive and finicky art of the query letter. After her presentation I have a lot of think about with regard to my own query letter that I began sending out last month. My fear is that it’s (gasp!) BLAND. My goal for this next week will be to get that baby up to snuff.
On to the character designs! This week I took to adding a little poetry to the designs, because I’m afraid I can’t help myself.
Quick intermission after this first fellow to share what the sketch ultimately became (the inspiration, on the left, is Edouard Manet’s “The Absinthe Drinker”)
