Space Whales
It’s awfully nice,
as the moon fills the sky,
to gaze at the clear starry yonder,
to feel the first sweet
chilly smooches of snow,
or cringe under lightning and thunder!
There are things you expect
in the big up-above-
constellations or windy-cold hail,
but when’s the last time
your face turned to the stars
and your eyes caught a glimpse… of a whale?
A whale, a whale! A lovely space whale!
Why, he’s ten times the size of Neptune!
He swims through the sky just as if it’s the sea
And he bellows a song at the moon.
Planets spin with a slap of his luminous tail
And he winks at the comets that kiss him.
He’s a whale, a whale! A lovely space whale!
Oh, how pleasant! Don’t blink, or you’ll miss him!

From the big starry constellations above
yonder, thunder…yes, such a great slant rhyme. I enjoyed the poem : )
Thank you! So glad you liked it. :)
